Creative Costume Ideas for Halloween 2010
2010 is flying by and it is Halloween is approaching quickly. Have you started thinking about your costume yet? It is never too early to start planning for Halloween so you have plenty of time to buy or make a costume.
I always like to start thinking about the movies first since there are always great costume ideas from hit movies. This year is no exception with the bumper crop of great movies. Avatar was a big success and there are several great costumes that can put you at the center of attention! For women, Neytiri, the Na’vi princess of the Omaticaya Clan is a smart choice. You could easily create the costume with a full length blue body suit. Add a tail and some makeup and you can quickly create a costume. Men will want to emulate Jake Sully, the hero of the movie. Again a blue body suit is a good start to the costume with a loin cloth to cover the essentials. A wig and facepaint or mask will make it even more realistic. And dont forget his weapons!

Iron Man II is another winner for a fantastic halloween costume. This one may be a little more complicate to try build yourself, but never fear. Careful shopping for different parts of the costume will yield great results or you always buy a complete costume. Click here for Iron Man Costumes Alice in Wonderland also offers some creative costume ideas. The Mad Hatter is a fun costume that creative trips to the thrift store could yield an awesome costume. The most important part is getting that large top hat! Find or make a brown velvet jacket and some shortened gray pinstripe pants. Add some mismatched colorful socks and you have a winner. Other great costumes are the Queen of Hearts and of course Alice!
Toy Story 3 is another great movie that offers creative costume ideas for boys and girl costumes as well as adults. A Woody costume for boys or a Jessie costume for girls is pretty easy to assemble. A cowboy hat, vest and jeans and you have a quick Woody costume. For Jessie, find some cow print fabric to for the chaps and a red cowboy hat. Buzz Lightyear is also a fun costume. You are probably better off trying to assemble store bought accessories or getting the complete Buzz Lightyear costume. Another favorite is Sarge and his green army men (Bucket of Soldiers) . Olive green pants and shirt with a plastic green helmet will fit the bill.
Dont forget about traditional costumes either. Witches, ghost, vampire, and skeleton costumes are always popular. You can find the all the pieces at a local store or find some great costumes online too.
Halloween is also a good time to come up with fun couples costumes. A classic one is the tacky tourist. A Hawaiian print shirt for the man and a matching muumuu will make a quick costume. Obviously the more obnoxious the print the better! Add some sunscreen and straw hats to complete the look. Another fast idea is doctor and nurse. Find some old hospital scrubs and and a toy stethoscope and instant doctor and nurse costume. You will have to decide which of you will be the doctor! Another creative costume idea is Bonnie and Clyde, the classic gangsters from the 1930′s. An old pinstripe suit and a fedora make nice gangster costume. Accessorize with a Tommy gun and you will be a bang up hit at your Halloween parties! Gangster girl costumes are all the rage too! Ideas range from the double breasted pinstripe suit to sexy pinstripe mini skirts. A flapper costume makes an exciting companion too.
