An animal costume is a very cute idea, particularly for younger kids or those that really aren’t looking to scare the neighborhood. There are a ton of animal costume ideas and I’m going to list a few that I thought were good.

When I was writing my post for current event costumes I neglected one of the biggest positive events of the year – the royal wedding  event of  Kate Middleton and Prince William. A royal wedding costume is the perfect costume for a young couple to wear for any Halloween party or event. What woman want not want to be a princess bride in a Kate Middleton costume and certainly even a man would want to portray the prince in a Prince William costume especially when he has such a beautiful bride.

The royal wedding was certainly a huge event in England where it unites everyone for a awhile. All the pagenty that leads up to the big day is just amazing, particularly to us Yanks. A Prince William costume is very dashing as well in a royal wedding uniform costume. The jacket is a scarlet Irish guard jacket. It features a stunning blue sash. If you can get a British helicopter pilot wings to wear on the upper sash it would be even more realistic. The black pants also have a red stripe along the length. A royal sword would also be appropriate to have with the costume.

A great creative costume idea for 2011 is an Angry Birds Costume. Angry Birds is one of the hottest games around for the IPAD as well as as Android tablets and PSP. I think my son is playing this on three different devices. This amusing game keep people occupied for hours trying to use a sling shot to shoot an Angry Bird into a pile of stuff and get points for doing it. Once you have completed one level then it takes you to another level.

This popular game has been downloaded by over 10 million people and one of the great things is that it is so cheap. I think we paid $4 on one device and 99 cents on another. It isnt like those games that you have to pay $65 and then the kids are done with it after a weekend. My son and sister in law keep competing for the highest score.

The Angry Birds costume for Halloween is definitely going to be one of the hottest costumes this year since the game is so popular with everyone. If your are creative, you can try your hand at

making an Angry Birds costume like in the video above. It takes a bit of work and some ingenuity to create your own Angry Birds costume but may be worth it if you can do it. If you are not so creative, then buying a ready made Angry Bird costume may be the way to go. Less work and you can still get a quality item. Angry birds costumes are for boys and girls alike.

Making your own Mummy costume is a great creative costume idea. This mummy costume wil be a hit for trick or treating as well as any Halloween party that you may go to. Also this costume might even win you a prize at your costume contest.

To make this costume,  a visit to your local thrift store may be in order or you may have some of the materials stored in your closet. You will need a white turtleneck sweater or long sleeve t-shirt,  white pants, and a couple of white sheets, and a large box of tea bags. 

First, fill some five gallon buckets with hot water and add the tea bags. Then put all of your materials in the buckets and let it soak for around six hours. This is going to give the costume an aged look!  After it is done soaking, take out the clothing and sheets and hang them up to dry.

Once the sheets are dry,  cut 3 inch slits down the side of the sheet every 2-3 inches. Then start ripping the strips off  of the sheet.

Now that you have your strips,  start wrapping them around your turtlneck or t-shirt. You will then need to sew the strips on the shirt and the sleeves overlapping each strip.  The easiest way to do the sleeves is to cut down the length of the sleeve before sewing the strips on and then sew it back together. Dont worry about being perfect, it will look more authentic if isnt exact.

For the pants, cut down the inseam and then arrange your strips on the pants. Sew the strips on the pants starting from the bottom and then sew the inseams back together.  Now you have your homemade mummy costume. After putting on your costume, take some of the strips and wrap them around your head. You can sprinkle some baby powder on your costume for an added effect.

 As you can see, this method does take a little bit of skill with sewing, but you end up with a great costume. Below is another method for those of you that dont want to sew.

First off, trip to the local thrift store and obtain some leather pants. The leather pants will be used to make a girls pirate hat and corset. Materials required include black leather pants, long sleeve white shirt, black boots, black ribbon, dental floss, and black stockings. You will also need needles for sewing leather, thread, and sissors.
